I’m a versatile and engaging educator with (something like) 20 years of experience as a teacher, professor, and workshop facilitator, and have worked with elementary, middle, high school, and college students. I’m available for workshops, classroom visits, and assemblies, as well as speaking engagements like commencement speeches, fundraising galas and benefits, etc.

Past teaching experience includes:

  • Oakland School for the Arts
     Chair of the Literary Arts program for 9th-12th graders at a public arts charter high school in downtown Oakland
  • UC Santa Cruz
     Adjunct professor in Creative Writing, Literature, and Freshman Core program
  • San Jose State University
     Adjunct professor in English and Writing
  • AIleyCamp
     Creative Writing workshop leader for middle school students attending the Alvin Ailey Foundation’s prestigious summer dance program
  • Rhode Island College
     Adjunct professor in Women’s Studies and Global Literature
  • Brown University
     Adjunct professor in Creative Writing
